Super Mario 64

The flagship title for the N64, Super Mario 64 was a superb game, and truly groundbreaking at the time. Nowadays, we take 3D worlds for granted but this was one of the first games to achieve 3D in such a beautifully presented way and it was the cornerstone for 3D platformers. Before, Mario was always forwards or backwards in 2D form in games like Super Mario Bros but now this vast world full of depth, imagination and charm. Although it was only a 1 player, when it was released I spent hours with...
Proving Activision wrong for decades – Top 10 l33t Ladies
After Activison announced that they don’t choose female protagonists in their games due to such games selling badly, I began to think whether or not that was entirely true. To be completely frank, and speaking as a woman, guys really do dominate the gaming world. It's sad but true, ladies: Mario, Solid Snake, Master Chief, Link, Cloud, Gordon Freeman... I could EASILY go on and on.
Don't get me wrong though, girls are never few and far between in video games as boobalicious eye candy for the ...
Goldeneye

Believe it or not, I played the game Goldeneye before I saw any of the Bond films. Now, me and a friend of mine can recite Goldeneye, our favorite Bond film, from start to finish. I played the game when I was much younger, 6 or 7, and loved it. Then, the N64 went up to the attic to be replaced by a purple cube, and I was introduced to the films. But I never forgot the game. When I replayed it for the first time last year, I still loved it. But why?
The game is totally different from the film ...

Nintendo has always been synonymous with handhelds and when it released the DS, it introduced a lot of new faces to the portable gaming market. Suddenly, playing the free little version of Need for Speed on your C902 paled in comparison to the real thing on the DS.
Having capitalized on the casual gamer market, the DS is the best selling console of all time. In total, the DS & it's variants have sold over 200 million copies dominating not just the handheld market, but also the console...
Nintendo Wii Starter Package

Way back when, the N64 was the most powerful console in its market. Today however, there is no doubt that the Xbox360 and the PS3 are much more powerful than the Wii. However, as much of a cliche as it is, it's not how big it is - it's what you do with it that counts.
The thing about the Wii is that it's emphasis has always been on introducing people of all ages to the world of gaming rather than pushing power and graphics, which is something to be admired - even if it meant in the fir...
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (Sega Mega Drive)

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was released back in 1994 and is my best Sonic the Hedgehog to date. Such reasons as I was old enough to appreciate the complexity of the overall package and had a new character called Knuckles. The game had only six zones to show but the detail and the different routes to go through provide a definite challenge. The multiplayer aspect from Sonic 2 makes a return but is improved and the use of Tails now as a playable second character through the main game makes it interestin...

Arguably Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was the best in the series of the Sonic games, it is easy to see why this game got quite a lot of appraisal. Released in November 1992 the game bolstered new levels, new sounds, multiplayer and a new ‘sidekick’ character called Tails.
Again the story focuses on Sonic trying to stop Dr. Robotnik from collecting the Chaos Emeralds and taking over the world. Compared to the first Sonic game the way in collecting the Emeralds has changed. For every 50 rings collect...
Dual Shock Controller (PSOne)

Back in 1999 Sony released the “Dual Shock” controller for the PlayStation. In direct competition with Nintendo as they had already released the “Rumble” pack that they had launched with Lylat Wars back in 1997.
Of course Sony did not want to have to use batteries for this vibration feature so it had used the PlayStations own power supply which in turn made sense and did not make as much noise as Nintendo’s Rumble Pack. The Dual Shock controller has two vibration motors: a weak buzz...

From a personal standpoint Sonic the Hedgehog brings back quite a lot of gaming memories for me. As the Mega Drive was my first ever games console back in 1991 and this game got bundled with it. Countless hours I would be playing on this and getting to the final level only to keep on dying and with no save system I felt like ripping my hair out.
SEGA had wanted a mascot of its own to compete with the popular plumber by the name of Mario, after long thought they had agreed on using Sonic the H...
